If you’re a snowboarder then you know the importance of a good pair of snowboarding boots. They’re necessary for controlling your boards as well as making you feel comfortable in the snow. We’ve selected the best snowboard boots for 2023 on the market. We will share everything you need to know about them so you can choose what you need.

Everyone knows that along with the bindings and the board itself, the boots are the most important part of the snowboarding gear. But before you can choose the right pair there are some things that you should consider:

Such as the right size, fit flex, and lacing system. Even your skill level and writing style should be considered to help you choose the right pair.

Today we’re going to talk about the K2 Maysis Snowboard Boot.

This boot comes in at seven flexes.

Does have a nice articulation point. So, it’s got a nice natural flex to it. But a good boot for any aspiring upper intermediate or expert level rider this does have a traditional BOA.

FEATURES & DETAILS

Flex: They feel stiffer than medium to me for sure, but certainly not ultra-stiff. There’s still some forgiveness there. Around 7/10 is the feeling I got from the Maysis.

Fit: Width: Medium. Not for wider than average feet, I wouldn’t say, but not overly narrow either.  High or Low Arch: Average

Responsiveness: A good bit of energy in these boots in terms of response. Not quite as good in terms of maneuverability at slower speeds, but not too bad there either.

Heel Hold: Really good heel hold. That internal boa does a really good job of locking the heel into the pocket.

Adjustability: Even though it looks like a double boa system to the naked eye, one of those boas works on the liner harness. The boa that controls the liner harness is something I really liked though, and something I like on other boots too.

Comfort: A really comfortable boot all around. Minimal pressure and feels nice and plush.

Shock Absorption: A good amount of chatter and shock absorption. Not epic, but really as much as most would need.

Board Feel: The board feel is OK. Not as good as the Aura – or the Salomon Dialogue that I also rode that day, but not bad.

Traction: The sole feels and looks high quality. Not a large amount of tread depth, but the quality seemed really good – and for the price point of the boot, that’s a real bonus.

It’s an H4 BOA Is a coiler so you can see it’s nice and springy and does coil up on itself.  o it’s a little easier in and out a little faster in and out.

The bases also boast the internal harness system called Boaconda. So, the Boaconda is going to help give you that heel retention to lock you in the back of the boot.

Work just like any other bower clicks out clicks back in and tightens up. Again, it has a nice 45-degree angle that locks you in the heel cup to keep that heel from flipping up and down when you’re making a hard-toe side turn.

These boots also come with some cool features as far as a space blanket down at the bottom. You can see that shiny material. So, it’s going to reflect the cold down and the heat up where we want it.

Into these nice comfy warm liners, a little bit of man fur up on the top there. These are intuition liners as well they are designed to be heat molded or allowed to break into your foot naturally from the heat coming off of it.

Liners are also reinforced with some J bars that again are going to help lock that heel in the back. It’s really the most important part of a snowboard boot is keeping yourself down so that when you move the boot response puts energy directly into the board.

Ride Lasso Snowboard Boots

Flex: They feel just that small bit stiffer than medium. I would say 7/10 bordering on 6.5/10.

Fit: Good fit out of the box. I found them to be quite tight around the ankles but not too uncomfortably so.  Width: Right in the middle. Certainly didn’t feel narrow, but certainly isn’t wide either. Perfectly medium.

Responsiveness: I felt like I could lean just a little harder into a carve with these than with my Tactical ADVs and, as typically is the case, they’re just a little less forgiving and a little less maneuverable at slower speeds.

Heel Hold: Good heel hold. I had very minimal heel lift in these boots – and only really got that maybe 5mm of heel lift when really trying to yank my ankle up. When riding didn’t notice any lift.

Adjustability: The biggest complaint I have with the Lasso Boa is that the entire outer boot is controlled by one Boa. This doesn’t allow for independent adjustment of the lower boot and upper boot.

Comfort: Comfortable overall from the get-go. Initially felt a little tight around the ankles, but even just sitting in them, that eased off. I noticed it initially when riding in them too, but it wasn’t anything too bad for me.

Fit Good fit out of the box. I found them to be quite tight around the ankles but not too uncomfortably so.  Width: Right in the middle. Certainly didn’t feel narrow, but certainly isn’t wide either. Perfectly medium.

Traction: The sole isn’t anything amazing. It looks pretty average. It mid-tred depth and didn’t feel super high-quality. If you wanted an upgraded sole from this, the Lasso Pro has got the nicer sole.

Reduced Footprint: They’re not super reduced, but they’re certainly not bulky either. They’re about average in terms of profile length.

Here we have the Thirtytwo Lashed Double Boa Snowboard Boots 2023. This is an all-mountain freestyle snowboard boot.  Perfect for going all over the mountain and out of the park as well.

It is a medium stiff flexing boot so it’s going to give you loads of response but also loads of playfulness as well.

The lacing system is Zhu Zhu Obama.  This sets you individually tailor the upper and lower sections to give you the perfect fit for your foot. The liner is the team fit liner which is a high-density foam this gives you loads of support and loads of flex.

It’s also heat mode heat moldable.  On the footbed of the liner is also the team footbed. It’s a molded footbed with loads of arch support. It gives you maximum Hill hold.

It’s just a little bit denser than last season. So, you will notice it’s a little bit more responsive.

The control step on boot is back for its second season with a few updates. So, this was the first step on boot that we introduced into the dc family.

As the first boot outside of Burton to do the step-on system. Burton did the whole interface of the boot we wanted to avoid any hang-ups with the step-on system.

So, we left it to the pros whereas the whole guts of the boot are all DC DNA. So, control was an obvious option. It’s one of our bestselling boots. It’s the easiest fit. It fits like 9 out of 10 people.

Conditions: Switching between rain and snow – couldn’t make up its mind! But was wet snow even when it was snowy.  Wasn’t the slowest/stickiest I’ve seen it but wasn’t fast conditions either.

Flex: They feel softer than medium, but not ultra-soft. Probably around 4/10 out of the box, but would likely soften up to a good bit softer than that fairly quickly. Even after heat molding and then testing, they already felt softer than 4.

Fit: Width: A little wider than normal for the toes, but not as wide at the balls of the feet. Fit my feet well, but that narrower area at the balls of the feet, might not be suited for wide feet. True to Size?: I rode the 10. I usually ride the 10 and the 10 for the STW Boa fits just right, so I would say true to size. I sometimes find 32 boots run 1/2 size small (i.e. I’m better in a 10.5) but for the STW Boa, I found 10 to be just right.  High or Low Arch: Maybe just a touch higher in the arch than average. So it might be an option to try for those with high arches. No pressure on the tops of my feet. I have a flat left foot and a relatively normal, but slightly flat, right foot, so I couldn’t say for sure for those with higher arches.

Shock Absorption: They aren’t the worst at absorbing shock, but not the best either. A couple of notches down from my test boots (Vans Aura).

Board Feel: Really good board feel – and not surprising there given their soft flex and their fairly minimal sole.

Responsiveness: More response than I was expecting to be honest. Certainly not monster carvers or anything, but I was thinking they’d be worse than they are. Still best when riding at slow speeds, but a little better than I was expecting at higher speeds (but my expectations were fairly low).

Adjustability: There’s just a standard pulley lace harness on the liner and a single boa to tighten the entire outer boot. This makes them super easy to get on and off, but also seriously lack in adjustability. Unlike most other 32 boots, they also don’t have a heel hold kit (which I felt was needed with these boots) so no bonus adjustability points for that either.

Comfort: Decently comfortable. Nothing really plush or anything like that. A pretty basic liner and shell, but their light, I found no major pressure points – nothing that didn’t work themselves out by the time I’d finished riding – and no cramping, which are the main things.

Traction: The sole doesn’t seem the greatest quality. Had nothing icy or challenging to walk in but just based on sole inspection, probably not going to be the most grippy or long-lasting, but I’d never expect that at this price point and in a boot you’re unlikely to be doing any hiking in (except hiking the park).

DC Mutiny is an all-mountain freestyle snowboard boot. Perfect for hitting those big kickers and hitting those features all over the mountain.

The Flex rating is a medium to responsive 6 out of 10. So, it’s going to be nice and responsive. But also, nice and playful at the same time.

The closure system is a traditional lace system so it’s going to be perfect. If you happen to damage any laces and they’re really easy to find on the mountain.

It’s also really easy to lace up as well. The liner is DC’s white liner. This is their high-performance liner. It’s made out of multi-layered foam in the skirt. So, it’s going to multi-feet really well giving you loads of support and cushioning.

It also has integrated J bars and 180 power straps as well. So, this prevents Hill lift and gives you loads of more loads of support and response as well.

The outsole is a contact-hewn light rubber outsole. So, it’s really super grippy real durable when you’re hiking up those trails as well.

It’s also a really lightweight outsole. The insult within the liner is that impact s insole. So, it’s a single-density polyurethane in the sole. So, it’s going to be super cushioning and give you those of support as well underfoot.

The liner also features an internal ankle harness so this really sucks your Hill down to reduce hill lift and gives you that extra support in step as well.

I’d say this Boot is aimed at a progressing intermediate to advanced rider who really wants to mess around with their freestyle riding.

Read tweak out those tricks and stop those landings, not the best boot I’d say for a beginner Rider as it may be a little too stiff or say pure Park riding due to the same reason.
